Inside PFSN’s Playoff Predictor: simulating every path to Super Bowl LXI
PFSN’s Playoff Machine turns real box scores and your own weekly picks into a live 2026 playoff bracket — and a projected 2027 draft order to go with it.
PFSN’s NFL Playoff Predictor is built to answer one question over and over: if this game goes a different way, what happens to the bracket? It’s a season simulator disguised as a toy — pick a result, and the tool immediately redraws the playoff picture, the seeding, and even next year’s draft order around it.
The Playoff Machine, as PFSN calls the engine underneath it, refreshes within minutes of every real NFL game wrapping up. That keeps the starting point honest: actual results carry the simulation forward, and only the games that haven’t been played yet are left open for you to decide.
From there you get two speeds. Pick every remaining game yourself, week by week, or only the handful you actually care about and let PFSN’s own simulation algorithm fill in the rest. Either path updates the same live bracket, so you can isolate one swing game — a tiebreaker, a Thursday-night upset — and watch exactly how far its ripples travel.
How the field actually gets set
Fourteen teams make the playoffs: seven from the AFC, seven from the NFC. In each conference, the four division winners are seeded one through four by winning percentage, and three more teams — the Wild Card berths — fill out seeds five through seven. The No. 1 seed in each conference earns a bye straight into the second round; everyone else plays it out in the first.
A 35-point Sunday and a division tiebreaker can move a franchise’s draft slot by a full round — the predictor is built to show you exactly how.
Win in the first round and the bracket reshuffles again for the divisional round: the lowest remaining seed in a conference always draws the No. 1 seed, while the other two survivors face off. The two conference champions meet in the Super Bowl two weeks after their respective title games.
